Nothing left to chew on
Mandatory Water Conservation measures in effect for the City of Houston. Basically it states to stop watering your grass and quit wasting water.
Ways to conserve water:
- Keep showers under five minutes
- Turn water off while brushing your teeth
- Wash only full loads of dishes or clothes
- Replace older model showerheads and faucet aerators with new low-flow models and install low water use toilets
- Inspect toilets for silent leaks by putting food coloring in the toilet tank. If colored water leaks into the toilet bowl before flushing, water is being lost due to a worn flapper
- Refrain from washing any vehicle or motorbike unless the dirt poses a driving hazard
- Refrain from washing down any sidewalk, walkway, driveway, parking lot or any other hard-surfaced area
- Refrain from filling, refilling or adding water to any indoor or outdoor swimming pool, spa or whirlpool.

The sun shines on BP
The Westlake campus of BP’s United States headquarters is a gleaming office complex.
As I was walking up, I saw a marquee in front of the building highlighting the Westlake Solar Project and the energy it has saved. I thought it might have been counting oil barrels drilled or something else spill related.
Then I was told I can’t take pictures of this building so I left. Anyway, if the security gaurds that were writing down my license plate number were wondering what I was doing you can read it here.
BP has an amazing enterprise with the brightest engineers, phenomenal innovation, and unlimited finances… So why can’t they shut down the wellhead at the Deepwater Horizon site with all these resources?
Why does their headquarters office look like a graveyard on a Sunday morning? Are all the staff actually out cleaning up along the gulf? I would have expected to see a bustling office with employees working round the clock to figure out an end to this scenario…
Scenes of The Nativity of Jesus around Houston
At least a few folks around town still remember Christmas WAS about the birth of Jesus? I had a tough time finding scenes of the Nativity and Manger Scenes around town.
If you are looking for a blow up Santa flying an airplane, Mrs. Claus, Frosty or Rudolf, you can spot one on every other street.

Taco trucks
A homage to the Taqueria Trucks of Houston. I love the artwork that adorns these trucks.
Tacos D Mundo – on Harrisburg East of Downtown Houston
Taqueria Mi-Tinos – Updating the menu – on Houston Ave
Taqueria Los Mexicanos – Harrisburg near the Railroad tracks
El Taconazo – parked on Staff Sergeant Marcario Garcia Drive (69th St) near Navigation
El Taco Del Gordo – last spotted rolling Eastbound on I-10 near Kirkwood
Elotes La Estrella – parked in front of the Fiesta on Fulton
Taqueria El Regio – At the intersection of Market St and Federal Road
Pollos Asados Al Carbon – this one is smoking!
Que Pollaso! – Where old school buses go to die.
Don Chenchos Taqueria – on Lawndale near Telephone – also know as little Mexico
Taqueria El Primo – Lots of cheap tacos at this one
El Regio Antojitos – the location of the propane tanks on the back of this one is not a smart move by this vendor
Taqueria Anabel – On Shepherd just north of I-10 – at least the propane tank on this one is on the front of the trailer
Taqueria El Quetzal – this one features a beautiful painting of Lago de Atitlan, Guatemala. This truck usually hopping between construction sites in Hyde Park/Montrose.
Hopefully, Houston wont go the way of LA and New Orleans issuing bans on these mobile caterers.
Which ones have you been to?
On the roof
Its a bit difficult to walk on a 45degree pitched roof. I really wish their were more flat roof buildings in Houston so we could enjoy the view and the balmy breezes from the tops safely. And most importantly stay above the mosquitoes.

Its Texas wildflower season and Blooming Bonnets and Brushes are popping up all over I-10 West of Houston.
