Sawyer Heights Tower
Notice the new Hike and Bike path going under I-10 which will connect The Heights to Sawyer Heights and then roll into UH-Downtown. This is a Rails to Trails project where the old railroad tracks path is used as the route for the new path.
Details from the Houston Bikeways on the MKT Rail to Trails Project
The MKT/SP Trail is a Rails- to-Trails conversion project which consists of 4.6 miles of a 10-foot wide, concrete, multi-use hike and bike trail along the old Missouri, Kansas, and Texas Southern Pacific Railroad. The trail runs from 26th Street to 7th Street, and from Shepherd along 7th Street, to Spring Street and White Oak Bayou under I-45, where it connects to the Heritage Corridor West Trail providing a connection to the University of Houston and other downtown bikeways and destinations.
Fresh veggies
Spent some time shopping at the farmers market on Airline just south of the 610 loop yesterday. The prices are a little less expensive than Krogers or Randalls and these are supposedly mostly organic too.

The the trail riders rolled in this weekend for the Houston Rodeo and so did another form of transport.
European inspired Smart Car fortwo
Smart Car USA opens its doors in two Houston locations this weekend. The biggest sales challenge the smart car will face in Texas, is the safety factor on the roads when driving next to all the SUVs and trucks that could just crush it.

And the following two(Alabama and River Oaks Theatres) are causing much debate in the community by Weingarten Realty’s recent announcement for new plans for these two shopping centers. A few folks have even started a petition to voice their opinion against Weingarten proposal.
