Google Maps Street View rolls thru downtown Houston. Since Houston is still booming with relatively more construction and businesses re-opening, it makes sense for more frequent street view map updates.
400+ MPG Diesel Engine!!!!!!!!
In a city where its citizens love their cars and the independence they provide there are a few ultra efficient vehicles cruising thru downtown this weekend.
Considering mass transit rail and the METRO bus system lackluster ridership these mass transit options will never be embraced by the majority of the population anytime in the near future, the only real option to provide more sustainable motility is hybrid electric and other sustainable forms of solar and bio-diesel powered vehicles.
View these vehicles at the Shell Eco-Marathon this weekend at Discovery Green in Downtown.

Wind Farms
Spotted these mega fan blades blowing down I-10, heading out West for those wind powered turbine farms popping up all over Texas.

I purchase clean energy from by energy provider. 100% wind power for my home and you should too.
REV-olution
Took a nice ride across downtown on this car this afternoon.
REV Houston provides safe, affordable and convenient transportation via all electric/zero emission vehicles.
To request a ride simply call 1.877.Go.REV.Go or visit one of our “REV Stops” for a code you can text to Qtags. Once aboard, enjoy a ride anywhere in Downtown and Midtown just for tips. Best of all our gratuity-based service can be paid for by cash, credit card or pre-paid key tags.
Taco trucks
A homage to the Taqueria Trucks of Houston. I love the artwork that adorns these trucks.
Tacos D Mundo – on Harrisburg East of Downtown Houston
Taqueria Mi-Tinos – Updating the menu – on Houston Ave
Taqueria Los Mexicanos – Harrisburg near the Railroad tracks
El Taconazo – parked on Staff Sergeant Marcario Garcia Drive (69th St) near Navigation
El Taco Del Gordo – last spotted rolling Eastbound on I-10 near Kirkwood
Elotes La Estrella – parked in front of the Fiesta on Fulton
Taqueria El Regio – At the intersection of Market St and Federal Road
Pollos Asados Al Carbon – this one is smoking!
Que Pollaso! – Where old school buses go to die.
Don Chenchos Taqueria – on Lawndale near Telephone – also know as little Mexico
Taqueria El Primo – Lots of cheap tacos at this one
El Regio Antojitos – the location of the propane tanks on the back of this one is not a smart move by this vendor
Taqueria Anabel – On Shepherd just north of I-10 – at least the propane tank on this one is on the front of the trailer
Taqueria El Quetzal – this one features a beautiful painting of Lago de Atitlan, Guatemala. This truck usually hopping between construction sites in Hyde Park/Montrose.
Hopefully, Houston wont go the way of LA and New Orleans issuing bans on these mobile caterers.
Which ones have you been to?
Look up in E
Next time you are picking up someone at Intercontinental Airport Houston (IAH), drive thru Terminal E passenger pickup and look up.
Speed Trap
Houston’s finest keeping us safe, while ensuring speeding drivers are put to rest on Durham.
To all you speeders out there, just SLOW DOWN. You avoid the ticket and you save fuel by driving at a slower speed.
VW Bugs
In Mexico City the streets are over run with green/white painted VW bug taxis. The neat thing about them is that they dont have a front passenger seat to allow easy access to the back bench seat. Check out this one at 100% Taquito on 59 South, across the highway from Joel Olsteen’s castle.
Our House, in the middle of our street
Every so often I see old dilapidated houses that were lifted off their original location and are in transit across the inner streets of Houston to their new resting spot. Last night I spotted this heap rolling over the Shepherd overpass on Allen Parkway and bouncing over the railroad tracks just North of Washington Ave.
All the while as the wide load rolled down Shepherd a few bits siding and a some bricks were falling off the house and the cleanup crew following the house were stopping and picking up the debris.
Why not recycle all the building materials off the house and then restore it in its original location, rather than move it around sacrificing its structural integrity as its transported to some other location?
Border Cruiser
Ever wonder what those guys went through to get into the the States, the ones standing outside of the Home Depot- in the parking lots. Check out Steven Gagnon’s projection vehicle which highlights the trials of illegal immigrants journeys on its rear windows.
Look for his car at FotoFest Headquarters and the Art Car Museum this weekend.
Flames cars and bikes
Swung by the Art Car Parade and saw another theme present- flames on the cars and the Lowrider bikes.
