Walled town within Houston
A walled town of the high Andalusian plains in Southern Spain has been relocated to Houston.
Perhaps the developers will keep the gates open to the inner courtyards and plazas of the Caceres community to the rest of the surrounding Rice Military neighborhood to create the true feel of small Spanish towns that Caceres strives towards.
Fresh veggies
Spent some time shopping at the farmers market on Airline just south of the 610 loop yesterday. The prices are a little less expensive than Krogers or Randalls and these are supposedly mostly organic too.

Taco trucks
A homage to the Taqueria Trucks of Houston. I love the artwork that adorns these trucks.
Tacos D Mundo – on Harrisburg East of Downtown Houston
Taqueria Mi-Tinos – Updating the menu – on Houston Ave
Taqueria Los Mexicanos – Harrisburg near the Railroad tracks
El Taconazo – parked on Staff Sergeant Marcario Garcia Drive (69th St) near Navigation
El Taco Del Gordo – last spotted rolling Eastbound on I-10 near Kirkwood
Elotes La Estrella – parked in front of the Fiesta on Fulton
Taqueria El Regio – At the intersection of Market St and Federal Road
Pollos Asados Al Carbon – this one is smoking!
Que Pollaso! – Where old school buses go to die.
Don Chenchos Taqueria – on Lawndale near Telephone – also know as little Mexico
Taqueria El Primo – Lots of cheap tacos at this one
El Regio Antojitos – the location of the propane tanks on the back of this one is not a smart move by this vendor
Taqueria Anabel – On Shepherd just north of I-10 – at least the propane tank on this one is on the front of the trailer
Taqueria El Quetzal – this one features a beautiful painting of Lago de Atitlan, Guatemala. This truck usually hopping between construction sites in Hyde Park/Montrose.
Hopefully, Houston wont go the way of LA and New Orleans issuing bans on these mobile caterers.
Which ones have you been to?
Washburn Tunnel
I wanted a new place to ride my bike- so I rode East and went under the Ship Channel through the only underwater tunnel in Texas. The police officer stopped me as I finished existing on the south side and said dont ride in there again.
Aerial roundabout
Look up when you drive down San Jacinto Street in Downtown and you’ll spot this new roundabout walkway under construction right above the road.
City of Houston goes Solar
City of Houston Code Enforcement office put in a few solar photovoltaic panels recently. According to the City of Houston website, this 12 KW solar panel system was donated by BP. What you see here are 40 panels facing south which will only generate a small fraction of this building’s daily energy needs.
With the cost of entry so high for Solar, we just need to get the City of Houston and State of Texas to start Renewable Energy rebates for solar and wind systems here in Houston. They already have similar rebates in place in Austin and San Antonio.
Would you pay $12,000 to $24,000 dollars to install a residential solar system that would only offset about 25-35% of your electricity usage annually?
Tall Pines of Camp Logan
Sunrise adjacent to the Memorial Park swimming pool. This pool offers lap swimming in the morning from 6-10am for only a buck each time you swim.
Pac-Man is near
Another Blue ghost mosaic spotted across the street from Rice U at University and Greenbriar. I still haven’t found the elusive Pac-Man.
$25 per umbrella
Just off the Galveston Seawall. Who pays to rent these at this price. Notice there is no one there today.
