This is Houston – West side
The side of the city that most people from the west side are familiar with. This was taken from atop the mid rise tower on Shepherd and Fairview.
This is Houston – East side
A side of the city that most Houstonians living West of Downtown forget about. This is from the Ship Channel bridge looking East.
Beware of owner
Why are people so mean to put up a sign like this? I saw this yesterday when I was doing a house inspection of a future home. Imagine the water meter or electric meter guys who have to go into people’s backyards to read the meters and they see a sign like this…
Sleepy Jedi
Little Jedi was watching a little TV with me and ended up passing out with his chin on my feet. He is so cute.
Houston Ice Storm
The big icy freeze everyone has been waiting for to skip out of work and school, finally blew threw last night. The conditions were so bad, there was even a couple of icicles (1/2″ to 1″ long) on these branches near my office. Be careful driving out there.
Nice day for a 26.2 mile run
I watched a few of my friends run around the city in the Houston Marathon….man I wish I was out there running with them. This was taken at mile marker 26.
Lohri – Punjabi festival of fire worship
January 13th marks the annual Lohri fire festival. Our family lit up the fireplace and made offerings of peanuts and popcorn to celebrate the event.
Where are all the trees
As Houston’s housing market continues to economically thrive into 2007, the environment is taking a toll. With the increasing population density in the Loop builders are trying to meet the demand for new homes. I hate the fact that the trees are being cut up left and right, but I love the new innovative home designs and the jobs that the building is creating for all the tradesmen.
Beer Can House
I went to drink some beer today at the Beer Can House. I found a couple antique cans while we worked on preparing some pieces to be used in the house’s restoration. Check out this classic 1975 Pearl Light – University of Texas Football Commemorative can!
Main street Houston
Running thru downtown Houston, the variety of colors of this sculpture attracted my eye. I stopped for a minute to take this snap with my phone cam.
Babiji – My grandmother
84 years old, born back in 1922, my grandmother is still kickin it, she reads a lot of religious books and spends most of her time in the kitchen trying to keep us fed when we go home…its always nice to see her and hear her speak.
Outrigger canoe lashing
Today Tom put the hurt on us as we paddled out into the Galveston Bay. All the while I was seated on seat 3 and taking the beating, i was looking at the interwoven patterns on the rope holding the outrigger stable. A nicely lashed outrigger is a secure one.
2007 travel plans
I’m looking at my world map and push-pins marking where I have been, and have been thinking I got it covered pretty well. But there is this huge chunk of land I have no clue about in South American, nothern Brasil, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana that I havent visited. Time for a weekend trip there!
I need some rythm
Finally pulled off the covers of my tabla the other day to jam a little after a long time. Tis was nice.
Where is Pac-Man
I spotted this ghost near the corner of Westheimer and Dunlavy. He must be nearby. Are there any Pac-Man arcade games still out in any Pizza shops anywhere?
India – proud supporter of W
1.2.2007 there are a number of manhole covers produced with Indian steel all over the City of Houston. This one is stamped with “W” for Water meter, but reminds me of those W for President stickers during the 2004 elections.
New Years Day Ride in Houston
1.1.2007 on top of the Continental Airlines downtown parking garage overlooking west Houston on a crisp clear evening first day of the new year.
